Yet another non-important character in my book. Yes... I think I will only ever post drawing of non-important characters because I am paranoid.

This is Morala.
She is the matron of the best brothel in the worst part of town… which I guess makes it a relatively average brother overall? Oh, I don’t know.

Was gonna leave it in black and white, but added the random pink just for the sake of putting a bit of color in my life.
Feedback would be nice. I’m still practicing and have absolutely no idea of what I’m doing...

Scarecrowlover, Matron of the Golden Grain is a beautiful piece of art. I love the expression and the way she is positioned. She is quite a robust woman which I think was very popular in the period which these clothes were commonly worn. She is very sexy and has an attitiude that says 'I'm sexy and I know it'. The colouring and shading blend really well with the background. Her fan is fluffy at the top which I really liked :). Her waving clothes make her look like an eligent woman. The period im thinking of is mabye the Wild West? Things that really stand out to me are the colours, the sexy position of this art and clothes she is wearing.

Well lets just get right to it, I like the solid and boldness of your lines that always seems to me like the artist knows what they want and where they want things. I also like the lighting it seems pretty realistic to me.last but not least I like the flow of the clothing the way everything bends etc. seems to be pretty realistic as well.

ok now for the other side of critiquing. you showed good shading\lighting on everything, but yet none on the face I was kinda dissapointed there. I feel the fan should cast a decent size shadow on the face I like the hair although it reminds me a lot of wilma from the flinstones I just wish there would have been a little more detail in the bun [i think thats what it is I am really bad with female hair do's lol] and last but not least some of the garmets draping you can see the bold lines from the skirt through it. if it is intentional and its suppose to be a see through type thing I'd put a slightly darker shadow where it is compared to where the shadows are on the rest of the skirt, and I would probably thin and or lightning the bold lines still.

Over all though you did well keep it up.

I have the habit of drawing my unimportant characters as well! They're so fun and really they do bring the story all together you know? :D
Anyway, I love her design! It's always fun to see an overweight OC in people's galleries. You draw her curves wonderfully! Keep up the great work!

Thank you so much. I often see too many characters that are perfect and skinny. I adore Morala because she's sassy and is proud to show off her rolls, as should anyone who is a bit heavier.

So, I'm going to try to give some constructive criticism.

At first glance, it looks almost like her butt is halfway up her spine, it looks kind of unnatural. I would definitely recommend practicing anatomy a bit more, it's a piece of advice I get all the time, and it's a great piece of advice. I think you've got an amazing headstart, and if you already practice, you're doing really well.

The other things that jump out at me, is the pink. It looks great, and I don't think the piece would be complete without it. Other than that, you've done an amazing job at putting this woman to paper. Keep at it!

Thank you ^^. Well, it's definitely is not meant to be anatomically accurate. It's this style I developed that is stylized. A bit like cartooning, but less abstract. But I agree, a study of anatomy will definitely help me out when I draw more realistic pieces. I suppose as for this piece I should probably make it more stylized so people don't confuse it as an attempt at realism.
Thank you. :aww:

No problem. Even with cartooning, I find that a quick anatomy lesson helps out tons, though I can definitely appreciate stylized work for what it is, and this piece is wonderful. :)

Once I have time I plan on taking some live anatomy classes. For now I only use books by Leonardo da Vinci, his anatomy journals and some other professional books. I think I've gotten to the point where I need some live models.
